Which crane is the strongest?
Taisun (Chinese: 泰山; pinyin: tàishān; Taishan) is the name of the world's strongest crane which has a safe working load of 20,000 metric tons (22,046 short tons). Taisun is designed by DHHI (Dalian Huarui Heavy Industry) and built for the installation of very large modules in semi submersibles and FPSO projects.
Cranes get their strength from the High-Strength Low-Alloy steel used to manufacture them. All the components of a crane work together to give the lifting power needed to lift heavy loads. These components get their strength from the steel they are constructed from.
Crane Fun Facts
The heaviest weight lifted by a crane is 20,133 tonnes (44,385,667.25 lb) achieved by the 'Taisun' crane at Yantai Raffles Shipyard, Yantai, China on 18 April 2008. The object lifted was a barge, ballasted with water. Lifting Capacity: 1,200 metric tons.
There are two main categories of cranes: static cranes and mobile cranes. A static crane is a permanent/semi-permanent structure fixed to the ground or building that lifts and moves loads along a fixed path. A mobile crane is mounted on treads or wheels and can be moved from job site to job site.
The RT 100 has a max. lifting capacity of 90 metric tons (100 U.S. tons). The max. Boom length is 53 m (174 ft) with a tipping height of 56 m (183 ft).
Big Blue Crane collapse.
|Date||July 14, 1999|
|Cause||Crane was operated outside of design specifications for the combination of load and wind.|
The Terex RT780 is the perfect 80-ton crane for this thriving industry because of its power, maneuverability, and ease of use. The boom of the RT780 has four full-powered sections that extend to a maximum tip height of 126 feet. Boom pads can be changed without requiring disassembly.
Shots taken by a British conservation photographer capture the 8,000-pound elephants being lifted by a crane after escaping. The 10-foot-tall creatures were lifted by their feet after being tranquilised and carefully placed on the back of transporter trucks.
All three tower cranes at the hospital construction site are rated to withstand hurricane-strength winds. They are reinspected after sustained winds of 95 mph or greater. But the threshold for actually operating the cranes is much lower.
There is a huge variety in sheerleg capacity. The smaller cranes start at around 50 tons in lifting capacity, with the largest being able to lift 10,000 tons.
